Splash & Dash
Sunday, July 23, 2017 – 8:30 a.m.
THE BASICS: Aquathlon is a fun and fast growing sport that combines swimming and running. It’s lower cost than a regular triathlon, because there is no expense for a bike. Splash & Dash events are a treat for the Tallahassee Youth Triathlon Series, as they are organized by USA Triathlon but hosted by us at the FSU Morcom Aquatic Center.
USAT YOUTH SPLASH AND DASH AQUATHLON SERIES: The USA Triathlon Splash and Dash Aquathlon Series is open to athletes ages 7-15, but here in Tallahassee we open our event to 5- and 6-year olds as well. Each participant receives a goodie bag, swim cap, finisher’s medal, Splash and Dash T-shirt, and invitation to the post-race party.
GET YOUR FEET WET: Our race on July 23rd is TO focus on the FUN, not competition, so there will be no awards ceremony following this event. The focus is on PARTICIPATION rather than competition.
Ages 5-6: 25 yd swim (1 pool length)/.25 mile
Ages 7-8: 50 yd swim (2 pool lengths)/.5 mile run
Ages 9-10: 100 yd swim (4 pool lengths)/.5 mile run
Ages 11-12: 150 yd swim (6 pool lengths)/1-mile run
Ages 13-15: 200 yd swim (8 pool lengths)/1-mile run
NOTE: The event is divided into waves, starting with the youngest to oldest. USAT defines race age as the age you WILL BE on December 31st in the year of the competition. Further explanation can be found under our RACE INFORMATION tab.
A registration link is below, but before you leave our website, please be sure to “like” us on Facebook to stay updated on the race schedule, clinics, etc. And, if you’d like to be placed on our email distribution list, send us your information so we can keep you informed about registration deadlines.
*Prices do not include USAT license or imATHLETE.com registration fees. Athletes can update their annual USAT membership ($10) at time of registration. This USAT membership covers event insurance and is required for all other YTS races. Additionally, current USAT members are invited to participate, free of charge, in our lineup of practice clinics being held all summer long.
