Despite strong demand and insufficient supply, the best graphics cards for gaming have been hard to find for the last two years. Nvidia says shortages of its GPUs will ease in the second half of 2020. Considering the timeline, it appears that NVIDIA anticipates that its Ada Lovelace family of graphics processors, the GeForce RTX 40-series, will improve the supply situation.

“We have seen strong demand for GeForce throughout the calendar year 2021, and it continues to exceed our supply,” Colette Kress, the chief financial officer of Nvidia, said at the 24th Annual Needham Growth Conference (via SeekingAlpha). Our supply situation seems to be improving as we approach the second half of the year 2022.”
At best, finding a graphics card can be frustrating; at worst, it can be impossible. NVIDIA believes it’s in a “good position” to meet demand, which is a sign of hope at the end of the tunnel.
NVIDIA’s CFO, Colette Kress, spoke to The Register about many topics, including the shortage of chips.
“We are continuing to try to increase supplies,” she said. However, we are also securing supply commitments for the longer term. “Sometimes they can extend for a year, and sometimes they can extend for multiple years,” Kress said.
“We are working on obtaining supply long-term, as we’ve mentioned,” Kress said. Considering our estimations of what we will need as we move forward, we believe we will be in a very strong position by the second half of calendar ’22.”

NVIDIA makes some of the most popular (and hardest to find) graphics cards on the market, so we would like to see it optimistic about the chip shortage.
If video cards become widely available shortly, we’ll have to wait and see. NVIDIA’s optimism makes us believe that we might be able to buy a GPU from a local electronics store at some point soon, but we’ll have to wait and see.
